Chapter Nine
Percy woke up when a crash sounded somewhere in the apartment. His heart pounded as he lay under the blankets, staring up at the ceiling. Where was he? It was far lighter in this room, and he could actually see the ceiling instead of just shadows. He took a deep breath, enjoying the clean brisk air filling his lungs.
Obviously he wasn’t on Earth anymore. Percy blinked as he remembered he hadn’t been there for three weeks already. He turned his head, noticing the clothes strewn across the floor, and he smiled when he recognised the picture hanging opposite the bed.
It was a picture of Alden and him at one of their friends’ parties. Alden had his arm encircling Percy’s waist, and Percy leaned into him. Percy must have been talking to someone out of the shot, because his mouth was open.
Percy frowned as he studied the picture. He climbed out of bed, and padded over to stand in front of it. He wound his arms around his waist while staring at it, and it wasn’t the image of him drawing his attention. It was the expression on Alden’s face as his best friend looked at him. There was love in Alden’s eyes, and a soft smile lifting Alden’s lips.
“Why didn’t I see it before?” he muttered. “Because I wouldn’t let you, and you weren’t ready to see it.”
Alden’s voice caused Percy to jump, before whirling to look at Alden, who stood with his shoulder propped against the doorframe. Percy tilted his head, and whistled. Alden wore a loose pair of lounge pants, barely hanging on his hips. A few dark curls peeked above Alden’s waistband at his groin.
The apartment was warm, so Alden didn’t wear a shirt. His chest was broad and lightly furred, which Percy loved since his own chest was smooth. Dark copper nipples were perfectly placed on Alden’s pectoral muscles, tempting Percy to pinch or lick them. He really wasn’t sure which he wanted to do.
Alden’s skin was tanned and his muscles proved he worked for a living instead of sitting behind a desk.Must be from lifting all those boxes full of liquor bottles,Percy thought, as he strolled closer to Alden.
He reached out and trailed his fingers over Alden’s chest, down to his belly button, where he swirled his finger.
“Hey, stop that.” Alden chuckled while slapping Percy’s hand away. “You know I’m ticklish.”
Leaning closer, Percy buried his nose in Alden’s throat and sniffed. “God, you smell so
good.”Alden pushed him a few inches away. “I smell like food and sweat. I finished working out before I started making breakfast for us. I don’t smell good at all.”
“To me, you smell marvellous. The humans who held me hardly ever washed, and they stank to high heaven. I thanked God I didn’t have any food in my stomach whenever they came near me, because I wanted to throw up.” Percy returned his nose to where it had been, breathing in the nice fresh scent of Alden’s sweat.
“I’m glad you like it.
